Statutory Data Requirements
As a UK Higher Education Provider, we are legally obliged to report student data to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). We also proactively monitor that our practices comply with the Equalities Act 2010. As such, we ask questions to collect this data. Each question is mandatory, so please answer them to the best of your ability.
Occupation: If you are going to be employed throughout your education, please choose this occupation. Otherwise, please choose unemployed.
Socio-Economic Background: You will be asked about yourself or your parents.
Parents: Please use the type and level of occupation of your parent who earns (or earned) the most. If they are retired, please use the type and level of their most recent occupation.
If you are asked about your own socio-economic background, please put yourself in “Not Classified” if you are not going to be employed throughout your education.
If you are going to be employed throughout your education, please use the type and level of your occupation.
Legal Nationality: When selecting your legal nationality, please start typing in your nationality and select from the list. If you are British, please type in ‘UK National’ and select the option from the list.
Note: Please do not worry if you do not have the above questions, some questions are only for new undergraduate students with permanent addresses in the UK.
When completed, click “Continue” to move on to Education History.

If you have had any Higher Education experience before (including if you are transferring to the Conservatoire from another institution), please fill in the “Last Higher Education Provider Attended” and “Year Left Higher Education Provider” sections with your previous establishment and the year you left the establishment as well as the “Last School Attended” and “Year Left Last School” sections.
If this is the first time you are entering Higher Education, please fill in the “Last School Attended” and “Year Left Last School” sections with the last school you attended (this includes colleges for A-Levels) and the year you left the school.
