Overview

TrilbyTV is the system the Conservatoire uses for the digital signage screens. All staff and students can access and upload content to TrilbyTV via the Microsoft 365 Single Sign On option. Content will be reviewed and approved Monday afternoon of every term time week (please email if there is an urgent requirement).

Instructions

1. Login
Login using the Microsoft SSO option. You will be redirected firstly to a Microsoft login screen, then to our Luminate login screen. You may be prompted for an MFA (Multifactor Authentication) code.

2. Dashboard

The dashboard contains your uploads and the uploads from the group you assigned to. When you first login, you will be assigned to a generic group – please email DigitalSystems@LeedsConservatoire.ac.uk and inform us that you have logged in and we will assign you to the relevant group.

3. Upload Types

In the top right-hand corner of the Dashboard, you will see the “Add” function. This is the first step to adding new content to TrilbyTV. There are three upload types standard users can add:

  • Slideshow – This is the most commonly used type. A slideshow can contain a single or multiple images/slides. The supported media types can be found at the bottom of this guide.

  • Title Slide – Similar to a slideshow, a Title Slide allows users to add images, but also just add a simple text object on a plain background.

  • Video –  The supported media types can be found at the bottom of this guide.

4. Slideshow Upload
For this guide, we are going to demonstrate uploading a Slideshow. The options for Slideshows and Videos are nearly identical. When adding content, you can either drag and drop the relevant slides into the upload box, or use the browse feature and navigate to your content(s).

5. Add Slide
Once you have added the relevant content, add a title and select the “Save” function in the top right corner. Titles should be short and ideally contain the relevant date if appropriate for the content e.g. Open Mic Night 7Jun (the date can be formatted however you choose).

6. Multiple Slides
You can add up to 36 slides to each slideshow.

7. Name
Give your content a relevant, short name. If appropriate, add the event or “expiry” date to the title e.g. Showcase Event 060726.

8. Autofill
All our screens use a 16:9 ratio. If your content doesn’t adhere to this, you’ll need to uncheck the “Auto fill screen” option to ensure your content isn’t cut off.

9. Category and Groups
The category defines where the content will be displayed. Please see the list of Screen Locations for full details. Please note, the categories are summative – if you select “General”, you do not also need to select “St Peters Square” as all the screens in St. Peters Square are also in General.

Selecting a group is helpful as it will display this content in Trilby to other people in your group. Please note that not selecting a group will not prevent any content from being displayed on screens.

10. Scheduling

To the right of the content, you can see the scheduling options. Generally speaking, between 8 and 15 seconds per side is acceptable. If there is a QR code, please use 15 seconds to ensure viewers have a decent opportunity to scan the code.

“Unapprove on” will remove the content from being displayed, but not delete if from TrilbyTV.

Content without a “Auto delete on” date and time will likely not be approved (to ensure content is only displayed when it is relevant…there is a lot of content!).

11. Submitted

Once all options are configured, select the “Save” button in the top right corner and return to the Dashboard. There you will see your requested content. If you hover over the two icons beneath your account name, you will see the content type (left) and the scheduled removal date (right). There is a red symbol next to the “Edit” button – this means the content has not yet been approved by a TrilbyTV admin.

12. Approved

Once your content has been approved, it will display on the specified screens for all staff and students to enjoy!
