Numbers to Excel Spreadsheet (macOS)

If you require this information in a different format, contact the Technology Enhanced Learning team.

Instructions

Numbers, the mac equivalent of excel, saves your work as a “.numbers” file by default. This format has limited compatibility with other programmes, such as Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.

It’s a better idea to save your work as a “.xlsx” file, which can be used across formats.

Go to the file menu, hover over “Export To” and choose “Excel”

In the menu that pops up, click “Save”.

In the next menu, you can give your file a name and choose where it will be saved. Once you are happy with this, click “export”
